IATSE 212 is committed to helping members upgrade their skills and the IATSE 212 Education Committee updates courses on an ongoing basis. Certain courses are prerequisites for being considered for a department, and others are required before permittee status will be considered. A completed department application must be received prior to registering for department specific courses. Once your application has been received you will be contacted to complete the registration process. Thank you.
DEADLINE: Registration is required 1 week prior to the course date. Fees are due once assigned to a course.
Here is the reason why to REGISTER TODAY > a minimum class size is required for a successful learning experience for all. If we don't get enough registrations in time, we have to cancel the course which is disappointing for all.

Core Concepts: Stage Lighting Basics 2025-Dec-09 - 12/9/2025

This 4 hour workshop runs from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.and will introduce students to the basics of entertainment lighting, including useful tools, PPE, terminology, types of conventional fixtures, types of connectors, power, cabling, hanging, basic focus and safety. By completing this course, students will be better prepared for the Jubilee "B" test, calls in the Caucus 3 theatres, and general stage lighting calls. Maximum of 8 participants. Set Etiquette & Protocol 2025-Dec-10 - 12/10/2025

Developed by industry union and taught by industry professionals, this three hour workshop is a must for those considering film and television careers. Workshop will start 12:00 pm and finish at 3:00 pm. Course will cover who reports to whom, do's and don'ts on location and job expectations. Opera Makeup Workshop 2025-Dec-11 - 12/11/2025

Workshop will run from 10:00 am -4:00 pm. Topics to be covered will include Opera Styles: Comedic, Dramatic, Modern. Basics and Character. Demo will be from 10:00 am- noon. Lunch break from noon to 1:00 pm. 1:00-4:00 pm will be hands on where you will create 2 assigned characters. Participants will require makeup kit and model (Male or Female) for the afternoon session. Aerial Boom & Scissor Lift Operator Certification 2025- Dec-16 - 12/16/2025

This training provides a classroom presentation, written test, hands-on practice and skills testing session needed for safe operation of an aerial boom lift and scissor lift. Operator skills will be evaluated using industry standards. Class is from 0800 - 1630. Participants must have valid Fall Protection certification and provide the following applicable Personal Protective Equipment: safety glasses, safety boots, safety vest, hard hat, harness & lanyard.
