Stage 101 2025-Jul-22 - 7/22/2025
"Wondering how to get on the call list for the theatres of Caucus 3? Or where to go when you get your first call at the Saddledome? How about what to bring to a stage call? Well then, this course is for you! This 2 hour course will cover information on IATSE 212 stage dispatch, hours, breaks, contracts, WCB, OH&S rules, proper headset and walkie-talkie use, how to be prepared for a stage call and a peek inside all the major union venues in the city. Whether you are brand new to the industry or have been around for a bit, this course has some useful information for everyone. Session is from 2pm -4 pm at IATSE 212. Fall Protection End User for the Workplace. This course is required for anyone working at heights. Certification is valid for 3 years. Course runs from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Stage Rigging Workshop 2025-Jul 31 & Aug 1 - 7/31/2025
This two day rigging course will cover; Basic rigging principles, theory for ground and high riggers, safe work practices, review of personal safety equipment and certification requirements. Hands on practice of basic rigging skills and radio communication/etiquette. Class will start both days at 8:00 am and finish at 5:00 pm. Open to Local 212 stage members and permits. Prerequisites: Participants will be required to demonstrate proficiency at tying the bowline and clove hitch knots. Successful completion of the written and practical skills evaluation to be listed.

Aerial Boom & Scissor Lift Operator Certification 2025- Sep-03 - 9/3/2025
This training provides a classroom presentation, written test, hands-on practice and skills testing session needed for safe operation of an aerial boom lift and scissor lift. Operator skills will be evaluated using industry standards. Class is from 0800 - 1630. Participants must have valid Fall Protection certification and provide the following applicable Personal Protective Equipment: safety glasses, safety boots, safety vest, hard hat, harness & lanyard etc. Registration is restricted to IATSE 212. Makeup Skills Workshop: Prosthetics 2025-Sep-28 - 9/28/2025
This is an advanced makeup class. Session will be from 10:30am - 3:30 pm. Artists must have experience with prosthetic FX application. Workshop will cover; tips and tricks on mixing prosthetic types, fitting generic pieces, painting techniques - Differences in painting foam vs. silicone, Safety for the performer. Afternoon will be hands on where artist will create their own full face character using any type of prosthetic and makeup application.
